Episode # 72: Woman Delivered from Witchcraft and Drug Addiction, Penny Kassay-Asencio

On this episode of Divine Intervention, we are joined by my friend, Penny Kassay-Asencio.  Penny was born in 1970 in Smithtown, NY.  She grew up in a nominally Catholic home, but due to abuse and alcoholism in her family life, Penny eventually rejected God altogether, becoming an atheist.  She moved out on her own at a young age and pursued a career in cosmetology, and also became heavily involved in drugs, witchcraft and the occult.  She has had many supernatural experiences and her involvement in the occult caused her to be demonically tormented, confused and continually fearful.  That is, until a series of divine interventions and miracles brought her to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and she was delivered from the torment the occult had brought into her life.  Penny is now living an abundant life of freedom in Christ.  Since the time of her deliverance, she has been involved in evangelism, teaching Sunday school and singing in her church choir.  Today she is the president of her own company, Kassay Global Services, which specializes in music and film distribution, publishing of music, career direction, screen writing, television production, public relations and fund raisers.

Episode # 71: President of the Theological Education Institute, John Rankin

On this episode of Divine Intervention, we are joined by Theologian John C. Rankin.  John is the President of the Theological Education Institute (TEI) and the Mars Hill Society in Hartford, CT.  A West Hartford native, he grew up in an agnostic Unitarian setting, influenced by secular humanism and Darwinian evolution before his conversion to a biblical faith as a 14-year-old in 1967.

   John is a graduate of South Kent School, Denison University (B.A. History), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Harvard Divinity School (Th.M. Ethics and Public Policy); and he is presently pursuing a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies in a joint program with Hartford Seminary and the University of Exeter. He is an alumnus of the Fellowship of Christians in University and Schools (FOCUS), and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF).

   He served in pastoral ministry from 1978-1983, headed up a New England wide evangelical pro-life organization in Gloucester and Boston, MA from 1983-1991, founded the TEI in Boston in 1990 before returning to his native Connecticut in 1992, and founded the Mars Hill Society in 2005. He is ordained through the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Wakefield, MA and his home church since 1992 is the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Simsbury, CT.

   John is author of the three-volume series, First the Gospel, Then Politics... (1999-2009; Vol. 1 [Only Genesis] currently sold out and to be updated and republished; Vols. 2 and 3 forthcoming [Political Territory and Spiritual Territory]); The Six Pillars of Honest Politics: The Biblical Nature of a Level Playing Field (2007-2009); and The Six Pillars of Biblical Power: Real Theology for the Grass Roots (2008-2009); and Jesus, in the Face of His Enemies (to be published in late 2009). He and his wife Nancy were married in 1977 and have three sons (1978, 1981 and 1985) and one daughter (1990).
