On this episode of Divine Intervention we welcome former Major League Baseball player and radio talk show host, Frank Pastore. Frank Pastore was born in 1957 in Alhambra, California. He grew up in a family with a pathologically dysfunctional mother on her fourth marriage and a distant father that he rarely talked to. He was an awkward kid who went on to become a professional baseball player, being drafted as a pitcher with the Cincinnati reds in 1979. He spent six years with the reds, played with hall of famers like Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Tom Seaver, and George Foster. At that time, Frank was a secular atheist, and an evolutionist who hated religion. God had a plan for Frank’s life however, as a divine intervention in the form of a career ending injury caused him to seek after answers in his life. Today, Frank is the host of the largest Christian talk show in America, The Frank Pastore show on KKLA in Los Angeles. His newly released autobiography, Shattered: Struck Down but Not Destroyed, is, like it’s author,“fun, fast, and real” and an intriguing mix of paradoxes. But, most of all, it is an uplifting story of how an unpredictable God can surprise any of us with His goodness and love when we allow Him to make beautiful the shattered fragments of our lives.
