On this epsisode of Divine Intervention we welcome author, producer and filmmaker, Phil Cooke.  Phil Cooke co-founded Cooke Pictures in 1991.  He's produced and directed film and television programming in more than fifty countries, and has been influential in shaping the stories of some of the most successful nonprofit and ministry organizations of our time.  He's been called "the only working producer in Hollywood with a Ph.D. in Theology," and "One of the most innovative communicators of our generation." 

Phil joins us to share some of his own divine intervention stories, like how God guided his career in ministry & Hollywood, and how he survived filming military coups and being stuck in foriegn lands with hostile government officials. 

We also discuss Phil's amazing new book, Unique: Telling Your Story in the Age of Brands and Social Media, and why branding is so important for churches and ministries to understand in order to efectively communicate the Gospel in our media savvy culture.

Episode # 168: Founder & CEO of Sat-7 Television and Middle East Expert, Dr. Terence Ascott

Hi friends,

On this episode of Divine Intervention we are joined by SAT 7 network founder & CEO and Middle East Region expert, Dr. Terence Ascott. 

Sat 7 is a Christian satellite television network strategically broadcasting the hope of Jesus Christ to millions throughout the Middle East and North Africa. 

Dr. Terence Ascott has lived in the Middle East and served as the leader for local media ministries for more than 30 years.  After the start of the Lebanese Civil War, Dr. Ascott and his family evacuated from Lebanon, moving to Egypt.  In Egypt, he launched an Arabic youth magazine called Magalla.  This was the first Christian magazine to be successfully distributed through public newsstands in Egypt and across the region, and was published for 25 years.

In 1995 he, along with other Middle Eastern Christian leaders and some 20 partner organizations, launched SAT-7, the first Middle East-based Christian satellite television channel.  SAT-7 beams an uncensorable Christian message to millions who likely cannot access the Gospel in any other way.  Today, SAT-7 broadcasts 5 channels in Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish to a potential viewing audience of over 300 million people.  One in three Iraqi children and one in four Saudi Arabian children currently watch SAT-7 KIDS.

Episode # 167: Missionary to the Middle East, Tom Doyle

On this episode of Divine Intervention, we are joined by missionary Tom Doyle.  Tom works with E3 Partners Ministry, serving as their VP of Church & Ministry Partnerships, and Middle East Strategy Director.  Tom is also the author of the amazing book "Dreams and Visions."

Episode # 166: Chief of Staff of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Ken Barun

On this episode of Divine Intervention we are joined by Ken Barun, Chief of Staff of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  Ken shares his amazing testimony of how a nice Jewish boy from New York City became a follower of Jesus, and the wild ride and divine interventions that led up to it.  Ken's intriguing story includes everything from drug addiction and homelessness to working in the White House to becoming a high-ranking executive of McDonald's corporation.  He also shares about the new evangelistic program, My Hope America with Billy Graham, which is an innovative home-based outreach that combines testimonies of prominent Americans with the preaching of Billy Graham in a powerfully-produced video called "Defining Moments."   People can share the video with their friends in order to introduce them to the Gospel.

Awesome healing miracle at Grace Lutheran Church, Mastic Beach, New York, 4-6-13

Hi all,

 

On April 6th, 2013, my wife, Sahani, and I had the awesome experience of being the key note speakers at Women's Life Day, an annual women's conference held at our home church, Grace Lutheran Church in Mastic Beach, New York.  While we were there, we got to take part in and witness an amazing healing miracle that the Lord did for our new friend, Joe, a young man who attends the church.  Joe had a torn tendon in his knee that did not heal, and he was limping around for about a year.

Episode # 164 National Religious Broadcasters Convention 2013

Hi all,

On this very special episode of Divine Intervention, we report live from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.  This convention brings together Christian communicators from all over the world for workshops, fellowship, networking opportunities, professional music, ministry and more.

I had the privilege of speaking with many amazing people while I was there, five of which are featured on this week's show.

 
     Dr. Frank Wright

 

Dr. Frank Wright, the President of NRB, shares some of his insights about the latest developments concerning both the challenges and the victories for the Gospel in the courts and in the media in America, and some of the miraculous divine interventions that took place in the course of the convention. 

 

                               Preston Parrish

Preston Parrish, Vice President of My Hope America with Billy Graham, tells us about this innovative evangelistic program  based on the story in the Bible of Mathew the tax collector, who, after he meets Jesus, throws a party in his home and invites his friends over so they can meet Jesus, too.  Preston shares about the great fruit that is being produces through this outreach, and about some divine interventions that he has experienced in his own life. 

Brian Wells with Walden Family Entertainment discusses his new family and faith-friendly film project, "Return to Nim's Island,"  and why he, as a father and a man of faith, chose to get involved with this project.  

 

             Bill Muir

 

Bill Muir heads up Methinks Entertainment, and he joins us to share about his new film, The Lost Medallion, a high action adventure story, sort of like "Indiana Jones" meets "The Goonies" for kids.  Bill also shares about his own journey of ministering to orphaned and abandoned kids, and how that influenced his decision to make this film, whose messages is that our lives are designed by God and that we have meaning because of that. 

 

     Jason Jones

Jason Jones is the President of "Movie to Movement" and one of the producers of the short film, "Crescendo" which is a powerful story with a strong pro-life message that affirms the worth and dignity of every life.  He shares about this inspiring film, and some of the divine interventions that occurred in making it possible.
